There are a whole range of different note taking/task scheduling and reminder applications that you can use on your Android and IOS devices. These include the likes of Outlook, Evernote, iCalendar etc.
Many people will have several of them on their phone/tablet where they have remained undisturbed pretty much since the day they were installed. Yet these mobile devices rarely leave our side – and we are addicted to their non-productive capabilities.
So how can we make more use of our expensive ‘mini-computers’ and get them to give us a productivity boost? Well the answer’s probably already on your favourite device and is widely ignored. Google Now and Apple’s Siri have been around for quite some time and are capable of taking voice instructions such as:
“Remind me to phone the dentist tomorrow at 2:00pm”
and particularly useful if you are driving and on hands free:
“Read unread gmail”
as well as asking for driving directions or telling your phone to ring a contact.
Siri has similar capabilities and both Siri and Google now let you teach your device new commands.
A word of warning though, whilst these Apps can greatly increase your productivity, you will get some strange looks whilst you are conversing with your device and if you are paranoid about privacy you should check out what data is kept by Apple and Google.
